چکیده

Carcinogenesis is a multistep process and multifactorial disease. It is estimated that in developing countries upto 25% of tumours are associated with various microbes. Microbial carcinogenesis is a major public health problem. Viruses are now accepted as bonafide aetiologic factors of human cancer. A formidable level of evidence has determined that there exists a relationship between certain bacteria and cancers. This article focuses mainly on human oncogenic viruses as well as emerging role of bacteria in cancer.

ارتباط بین استرپتوکک بوویس و انتروکک با سرطان کولورکتال

Background and Aim: The human bowel contains a large and dynamic bacterial population (more than 500 species of bacteria). Some intestinal bacteria such as Streptococcus bovis , Enterococcus and Bacteroides fragilis have previously been suggested to be implicated in the promotion of colon carcinogenesis probably through the conversion of mutagen metabolites. Materials and Methods: Thirty patie...

Linking Gut Microbiota to Colorectal Cancer

Pre-clinical and clinical data produce mounting evidence that the microbiota is strongly associated with colorectal carcinogenesis. Dysbiosis may change the course of carcinogenesis as microbial actions seem to impact genetic and epigenetic alterations leading to dysplasia, clonal expansion and malignant transformation. Initiation and promotion of colorectal cancer may result from direct bacter...

Microbial infection, inflammation and epithelial ovarian cancer

Ovarian cancer is the most common, and life-threatening, type of female gynecological cancer. The etiology of ovarian cancer remains unclear, and there are currently no effective screening or treatment methods for the disease. Microbial infection serves a marked function in inducing carcinogenesis. A number of studies have identified pelvic inflammatory disease as a risk factor for epithelial o...

Dynamic microbe and molecule networks in a mouse model of colitis-associated colorectal cancer

Bacterial colonisation of the gut is involved in the development of colitis-associated colorectal cancer. However, it remains unclear how the gut microbiota dynamically shifts correlating with colorectal carcinogenesis. Here, we reveal the longitudinal shifts in the microbial community that occur with colitis-associated colorectal cancer. High-throughput sequencing results for the bacterial 16S...

Interplay between the gut microbiota and epithelial innate signaling in colitis-associated colon carcinogenesis

Intestinal microbiota is involved in the maintenance of gut homeostasis as well as the regulation of colitisassociated colorectal tumorigenesis. The aberrant host immune signaling and the presence of opportunistic commensals with potential pathogenic characteristics (pathobionts) have been suggested to be incorporated into the genetic paradigm of colon carcinogenesis. The reciprocal relationshi...
